Stormskata v0.4

General information and Change log – Stormskata v0.3 to v0.4
Updated 2023-05-17

*** Introduction ***
A Modular 3D printable chassis for CZ455 based on a 12mm rod-rail system.
This is still under development and and please contact me for feedback or suggestions.
You are free to make your own modules, and if you allow i will add them in future releases with your accreditation.
The bars have a diameter of 12mm, sitting 28mm apart (center to center) and the barrel is located 23mm above – Center to Center horizontal direction.
AR style grips, such as the MDT oryx chassis grip is what is currently used (also used in the video below) and should fit without problems.
Currently attached grips is not comfortable enough in my opinion, See comments on Grips below under “Pending for next version (v0.5)”
Please respect that this is only for personal use. Not for commercial or resale use, not allowed to print and sell.
Please contact me for details or other questions.

*** Printing Recommendations ***

  • PLA is a great option but you have to be aware of it’s properties if you live in a very hot climate
  • Use at least 2mm wall thickness
  • Use tree support only on build plate for clean print of “lower”
  • Most models have a printing direction where no or very limited supports are needed. use support blocker as much as possible and set overhang angle to 61*.
  • Use support blocker on all 12mm holes for the bars/rods/tubes and use drill to clean up afterwards

*** Mounting Suggestions ***
Recommended Tools

  • Plastic Hammer
  • Threading tools – M6
  • Deburring tool
  • Drills (6mm, 8mm, 10mm, 12mm,

When cleaning up the prints beware that tools such as drills and taps generate heat. Do it very slowly and carefully to avoid the plastic from melting and changing shape. A recommendation would be to only do a few CM at a time and let the drill cool in between.

When mounting the system. Torque rear screw first. After that, tighten front screw until barrel is parallel with the bars.
Glue is optional, since it will remove the modularity features…
