The new version, Stormskata v0.5 “Light gray” has focused on removing unnecessary material to make it lighter, stronger and make the whole chassis easier to print and prepare. Some features might be missed from v0.4, but the idea was to make it more streamlined, and that you print it to your size instead of having the adjustability. Making it simpler, but a little less versatile. (Just print another in another configuration… 🙂 )
Do you miss the Barricade stop or would like other features on the next version? Please let me know!
*** Introduction ***
Stormskata is a Modular 3D printable chassis for CZ455 based on a 12mm rod-rail system. It is still under development so please contact me for feedback or suggestions.
You are free to make your own modules, and if you allow i will add them in future releases with your accreditation.
The bars have a diameter of 12mm, sitting 28mm apart (center to center) and the barrel is located 23mm above – Center to Center vertical direction.
Please respect that this is only for personal use. Not for commercial or resale use, and not allowed to print and sell. Please contact me for details or questions.

***Assembly***
Hardware Needed
- 12mm bars/Rods/Tubes x2 (Recommended at least 650mm, Solid Steel axle and Carbon Fiber tubes tested. Available here: https://www.mjhobby.se/product.asp?qsLang=&type=2&id=153&pid=KFR-12-10)
- M6 x2 (Recoil pad) (12mm recomended)
- M6 Max 20mm for Grip
- Cerv001 Recoil Pad x1 (Cervellati MicroCell for example, rec. price ~20-30€)
*** Printing Recommendations ***
- PLA is a great option but you have to be aware of it’s properties if you live in a very hot climate
- Use at least 2mm wall thickness
- Use tree support only on build plate for clean print of “lower”
- Most models have a printing direction where no or very limited supports are needed. Set overhang angle to 61*.
- Use support blocker on the 12mm holes for the bars/rods/tubes and use drill to clean up afterwards.
- For the Recoil pad. Use Zigzag infill with approx 15% infill for desired cushion effect.
*** Mounting Suggestions ***
Recommended Tools
- Plastic Hammer
- Threading tools – M6
- Deburring tool
- Drills (6mm, 8mm, 10mm, 12mm,
When cleaning up the prints beware that tools such as drills and taps generate heat. Do it very slowly and carefully to avoid the plastic from melting and changing shape. A recommendation would be to only do a few cm at a time and let the drill cool in between.
When mounting the action/system. Torque rear screw first. After that, tighten front screw until barrel is parallel with the stock/bars.
Glue is optional, since it will remove the modularity features, but will greatly increase the rigidity of the chassis!
*** Pending for next version (v0.6) ***
- New Grip – still not happy with mine…
- Over Barrel Bipod still not good enough (front stock already prepared)
Files will be available soon!
